English Toffee

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup real butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup semi chopped almonds
symphony bar or your favorite chocolate bar

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all ingredients EXCEPT almonds and chocolate bar and put over medium heat. Stir continuously to prevent it fro burning. Keep it on heat until it turns a darker brown and begins to smoke. You have to watch carefully because the smoke is not very obvious. Pour mixture onto a buttered 9×13 pyrex that has 1 cup semi chopped almonds spread on the bottom of it. Break up pieces of chocolate bar and place them on hot toffee. When melted, spread with a knife. Break up toffee with a blunt knife. Immediately put hot water in your pan or it will be terrible to clean. Enjoy your English toffee.
