Cherry Pie Recipe

“This is truly a homemade cherry pie recipe. No more using that canned cherry pie filling with who knows what in its ingredients. We have a neighbor up in Oakley that has a wonderful sour cherry tree and she lets us go and pick cherries every year. It’s my sisters favorite pie.”

Cherry Pie


2 lard crusts
2 1/2 cups sour cherries
1/3 cup cherry juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
3 Tbs tapioca
1 Tbs butter
1/8 almond extract


Combine ingredients and let stand 15 minutes. Place a crust in a pie dish and pour mixture over crust. Dot with butter and top with the last crust. Seal the edges and bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes and then 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
