Pecan Pie Recipe

“This is the best pecan pie recipe we have come across. This has for a long time been one of my favorite pies. It would be right up there with strawberry rhubarb pie and fresh peach pie. Let us know what you think. We believe there is always room for improvement. As far as I know, this recipe was given to my mother as a wedding gift from a friend of theirs that was a true “southern bell”. No wonder it tastes so good.”

INGREDIENTS:

Pastry for 1 single lard crust
5 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 pint white karo syrup
2oz butter
1 cup pecans

DIRECTIONS:

In your Bosch mixer, beat the eggs. Add the sugar, salt and vanilla. Whip together well. Add syrup and melted butter. Mix in nuts. Place the crust in a pie dish and pour mixture over crust. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes.
